Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 18 October 2026 · Effective: 18 October 2026
These terms explain the basis on which you may use DocSample (docsample.com), including our PDF tools, invoice and CV generators, and blog. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What DocSample is
DocSample is a collection of free document tools that run in your web browser, together with guides about documents and PDFs. Tools can include merging, splitting, compressing and converting PDFs, converting office documents and images, editing and organising pages, adding page numbers, watermarks and metadata, OCR, and generators for invoices and CVs. Features may be added, changed or removed as the site develops. Most tools are designed so that files are processed on your device rather than uploaded to us; our Privacy Policy and Security page explain that design.
2. Using the tools
You may use DocSample for lawful personal and business document work. You are responsible for choosing the right tool, checking any settings you select, and reviewing the result before you rely on it or send it to someone else. Always keep your original file. A converted, compressed or edited document can differ from the original in layout, fonts, image quality, selectable text or metadata, and only a proper check of the downloaded result will show whether it is fit for your purpose.
Some conversions are technically limited. For example, a browser conversion of a presentation or spreadsheet may preserve text and tables while simplifying complex layout, and OCR may misread poor-quality scans. Where a tool explains a limitation on its page, that explanation forms part of these terms for that tool.
3. Acceptable use
You must not use DocSample to break the law, infringe another person’s rights, or harm the site or other users. In particular, do not use the tools to create, alter or distribute documents that deceive others — such as forged certificates, altered financial records presented as genuine, or invoices for goods or services that were never supplied. Do not attempt to disrupt the website, bypass technical limits, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or use automated activity that places an unreasonable load on the service. Do not upload or process material through any interactive feature in a way that you know is unlawful in your country.
4. Your files and your responsibility
Your documents remain yours. Using a tool does not transfer any ownership of your file, text, logo or other material to us, and, because processing is local, we do not receive a copy to store or reuse. You are responsible for having the right to use and modify the material you process, including copyrighted text and images, trade marks and logos, and personal information about other people. If you create an invoice, CV or edited PDF, you are responsible for the accuracy of the information in it and for complying with tax, employment, consumer and record-keeping rules that apply to you. The generators provide formatting and calculations to help you; they are not accounting, tax, legal or recruitment advice.
5. Blog content
Our articles are general information based on everyday document practice. They are not professional advice for your particular situation. Software, file formats, employer expectations, tax rules and service requirements change, so check the critical detail against the current requirement before acting solely on an article. We work to keep guides accurate and will correct mistakes we find, but we cannot guarantee that every statement remains complete or current at the moment you read it.
6. Intellectual property in the site
The DocSample name, website design, logos, article text, graphics and software are protected by intellectual property rights and belong to us or our licensors, except for open-source components, fonts and libraries used under their own licences. You may read the blog and link to our pages. You may not copy substantial parts of the site, present our articles as your own, scrape content to republish it, or use our branding in a way that suggests endorsement, without prior written permission where the law requires it. Documents you create with the tools belong to you, subject to the rights in any material you put into them.
7. No warranty
DocSample is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent allowed by law. We do not warrant that a tool will meet every requirement, that a conversion will be identical to the original, that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a downloaded document will be accepted by a particular employer, agency, printer or other recipient. Browser-based processing depends on your device, browser, memory and file, and very large or unusual documents may fail. To the extent a warranty cannot legally be excluded, it is limited as narrowly as the law permits.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, DocSample and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, business, goodwill, data or expected savings arising from use of, or inability to use, the site. This includes loss said to result from a document conversion, a calculation in a generator, a missed deadline, or reliance on a blog article. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. You remain responsible for keeping backups of important documents, which is good practice with any tool.
9. Availability and changes to the service
We may maintain, update, suspend or discontinue any part of the site, including a tool, without prior notice — for example, to fix a defect, respond to a security issue, or comply with the law. We are not liable if a feature becomes unavailable. Because drafts from the generators are stored only in your own browser, you should export and save important invoices and CVs rather than treating the browser as long-term storage.
10. External links and third-party services
The site may link to, or rely on, third-party services such as hosting, fonts, databases and content-delivery networks. External websites are operated by their owners, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Following an external link is at your own discretion, and you should read that site’s terms and policy.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with its “last updated” date, is the current version. If we make a significant change, we will present it clearly on this page. Continuing to use the site after a revised version takes effect indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
12. General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining parts continue in effect. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms are intended to be read alongside the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Security page, which explain how data and security are handled but do not replace the responsibilities in this document.
13. Contact
