Use Lossless when you need searchable/selectable text.

Recommended is the default. Recommended/Strong turn pages into pictures, so text is no longer selectable in that copy. Lossless — only a few % smaller. Max 50 pages / 75 MB. We always keep whichever result is smallest, so you never get a larger file. Strong — 120 DPI, lower quality: much smaller file for mostly-text PDFs too, but text becomes a softer picture. Use when size matters more than crispness. Lossless — only a few % smaller — tidy re-save only, text stays selectable. Choose this only when selectable text matters more than size; expect almost no change on an already-optimised PDF.

Important: Recommended/Strong turn each page into a picture — text in that copy will no longer be selectable/searchable. If your PDF is mostly text (e.g. ~60 KB), a big saving is not honestly possible without that trade-off: we return the smallest of lossless vs rendered and tell you the real %. Max 50 pages / 75 MB.
