OCR PDF Online
Recognise text in a scanned PDF with in-browser OCR, download a searchable copy with an invisible text layer, the plain OCR text, or a clean text-based PDF.
How to use OCR PDF
- Add a scanned PDF (start with a few pages)
- Choose the document language
- Run OCR and watch the per-page progress
- Download a searchable PDF, the text file, or both
Good to know
- Flat, straight, well-lit scans at a readable size OCR far better than skewed photos.
- English is built in here; try another offered language when your document is mainly in that language.
- OCR accuracy depends heavily on scan quality, language and handwriting. It runs entirely in your browser and is slow for long documents — keep batches modest.
Frequently asked questions
How does the searchable PDF work?
Each page is rendered as an image, OCR finds words and their approximate positions, and that text is placed invisibly over the page image in a new PDF. You can search and roughly select it, but positions are approximate.
Which languages are offered?
English, Nepali, Hindi, Spanish, French, German and Arabic data can be fetched by the OCR engine when selected. The first use of a language needs an internet connection to download its data, and device support varies.
Why is some text wrong?
OCR guesses characters from pixels. Blur, skew, low contrast, unusual fonts and handwriting all reduce accuracy, so always proofread important results.
