Zakat is due at 2.5% on wealth held for a full lunar (Hijri) year once it reaches the nisab. The nisab is commonly taken as 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver — the silver nisab is much lower, and many scholars recommend it so that more people give. Enter today's price per gram yourself; there is no live feed.

Include cash, bank balances, gold and silver (by pure weight), shares and funds, business stock at sale value and money owed to you that you expect to receive. Subtract debts due now. Scholars differ on personal jewellery, retirement funds and long-term debts — ask a trusted scholar or your local zakat authority. Corporate zakat in Saudi Arabia (ZATCA) is a separate system not covered here.

Rules were checked against these sources in October 2026. Laws change — if a source says something different, the source is right.

What is the nisab for zakat in 2026?

85 g of gold or 595 g of silver at today's price. Enter the price per gram and the calculator shows the nisab in your currency.

Gold or silver nisab — which should I use?

Both are accepted views. Silver gives a lower threshold, so more people pay; gold is common for people whose wealth is mainly gold or cash. Choose the one your scholar follows.

How do I know when my zakat year ends?

Zakat is due one lunar year after your wealth first reached nisab. Use the Hijri date converter to find that date.
