SIO calculates end-of-service gratuity on basic salary plus social allowance (if any): half a month's wage for each of the first three years and a full month for each later year. Other allowances are excluded. The LMRA guide shows part years paid by month — for example BHD 150 for 15 months gives BHD 93.75 — and resignation does not reduce the amount.
Since 1 March 2024 employers pay 4.2% (first three years) or 8.4% of the monthly wage to the Social Insurance Organization, and the worker claims the benefit from SIO. Service before March 2024 is still paid by the employer directly.
Rules were checked against these sources in October 2026. Laws change — if a source says something different, the source is right.
