A worker earns 30 days of paid annual leave for each year of service. In the first year, after six months, leave builds up at 2 days for each month. When the job ends the worker is paid for any leave earned and not taken, including the part of the last year, and that payment is calculated on the basic wage (Article 29(9)). Leave taken during service is paid at the full wage.

Employers can agree to let you carry leave forward, but cannot stop you taking leave that has built up for more than two years.

Saudi Arabia: 21 days a year, 30 days after five years with the same employer (Article 109). Qatar: three weeks a year after one year, four weeks after five years, paid on basic wage (Articles 72 and 79). Oman: 30 days a year at gross wage, usable after six months (Article 78). Kuwait and Bahrain also give 30 days, but we have not verified their pay basis, so they are not in this calculator.

Rules were checked against these sources in October 2026. Laws change — if a source says something different, the source is right.
